Somewhere along the way, business software stopped being something you buy and became something you rent. The tools got a login page, the invoice became monthly, and your data moved to somebody else’s cloud.

We know because it happened to us. We ran our business on an expensive Fishbowl licence. When we cancelled the maintenance plan, the help stopped and parts of the software were cut — and when we reinstalled it on a new machine, they would not even issue an activation code. Software we had already paid for, held hostage. We built Tenxs [ERP] so that could never happen to us again. Then we kept building.

Tenxs is the other way. You buy the software. It runs on your server — on-prem or a cloud VM you control. Your data sits in open formats you can read without us. No per-seat fees. If we disappeared tomorrow, your tools would keep working.

Each product exists because an incumbent was charging rent: the ERP replaces Fishbowl and QuickBooks — Fishbowl especially, where staying licensed means paying annual maintenance just to keep the software you already bought working for you. PDF replaces the Acrobat subscription, Payroll replaces per-run bureau fees, Connect replaces Slack seats, Label replaces the BarTender licence.

We are business people ourselves, not a software vendor with a sales floor. We build these tools to help other operators succeed in a world that keeps getting more tech-demanding — and more expensive for the little guys.

That includes the AI. The suite is built to work with local LLMs — @Jane in Connect, the Cockpit, the Voice assistant — intelligence that runs on your hardware, reads your data, and makes your life easier without shipping your business to somebody’s cloud.

And because we are a consulting practice first, the software comes with somebody on the phone who built it.
